Description
1. Northwestern University (NU) will serve as the cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) core laboratory for the study based on the intent to do collaborative research with Leipzig Heart Institute GmbH (LHI).
2. NU will perform re-analysis of late gadolinium enhanced magnetic resonance imaging scans (N=639) included in the PROFID study from the PREDETERMINE study for the quantification of core infarct and grey zone using Mass software.
3. LHI has arranged for Dr. R. J. van der Geest (RJvdG) to provide and support the Mass software.
4. NU will perform administrative, regulatory, and information technology tasks necessary to install Mass software on a local workstation with access to relevant DICOM and contour files.
5. RJvdG will develop scripts for pre-processing and semi-automated analysis of core infarct (full-width, half-maximum threshold method) and grey zone (2-3 standard deviations above mean remote threshold method). NU will support this development by providing expertise regarding the data architecture, DICOM, and contour files.
6. Pre-processing and semi-automated analysis will be performed in Mass by first loading the DICOM image files and existing LGE endo- and epicardial contours into Mass software. Signal intensity (SI) thresholds will be applied to define the core infarct and grey zone.
7. NU will review the results of semi-automated analysis for each patient scan for accuracy, and make manual corrections as necessary.
8. Northwestern University will provide a data transfer of the MRI results to the PREDETERMINE study, and the PREDETERMINE study will provide a data transfer of the results to LHI at agreed upon intervals for study data analyses.
