Life Course Process of Alzheimer's Disease: Sex Difference and Biosocial Mechanisms

Project: Research project

Project Details

Description

Dr. Clair Yang (UNC) is the project PI, and Dr. Thomas McDade will serve as PI of the subcontract to Northwestern. Aaron Miller, research technician, will also be involved in the project. Subcontract funds are being requested to cover the costs associated with development of two new immunoassays in the Laboratory for Human Biology Research. Specifically, the team will develop and validate assays for the quantification of antibodies against Herpes Simplex II, and H. Pylori, in dried blood spot (DBS) samples. The team will then implement the analysis of 5,000 DBS samples using these protocols. The team will also analyze these samples for CMV antibodies, using a previously validated protocol. Northwestern will receive de-identified DBS samples from UNC, and we will return laboratory results to collaborators at UNC.
