Quality Upgrading and Competition in Uganda's Coffee Sector

The proposed project builds on a year-long pilot funded by various agencies (IGC/ATAI and PEDL), during which we tested all the major survey instruments described above and worked with our partner company to implement and revise the intervention details. We are now ready to expand the project into a full-scale experiment. We will be working with Innovations for Poverty Action – Uganda to conduct the field work. IPA has run surveys for this project as part of our pilot work, and thus had extensive experience with the survey instruments and procedures. Power calculation for the required sample size, based on data collected from the pilot, is provided in Appendix B.
