Description

Dynamic communication plays a crucial role in key processes of an organization such as coordination, decision making, and information sharing. Research on the temporal dynamics of communication networks has largely focused on identifying endogenous mechanisms of social network decision making. Yet, how social networks respond to external events and how these changes impact the function of the networks has remained largely unanswered even as flexibility and adaptability of a network to changing landscapes of risk are assumed to be one of the great benefits of networks. I propose to construct a framework (theory and methods) that explicates how exogenous volatility affects network structure and network performance.
