Research Project #2 - Asthma

Project: Research project

Project Details

Description

The Patient Reported Outcomes Measurement Information System (PROMIS) is a national resource for precise and efficient measurement of patient-reported symptoms, functioning, and QOL that is appropriate for patients with a wide variety of chronic diseases and conditions. Utilizing the well-characterized patient cohorts of our clinical collaborators (Lurie , , ) we plan to expand this resource by validating relevant pediatric PROMIS measures in two clinical population, asthma and atopic dermatitis (AD). Extending the use of PROMIS measures to children with asthma or AD will provide a useful metric to enhance the utility of the PROMIS domains and measures in clinical studies. This will make it possible for clinical investigators to compare the effectiveness of different treatments, ultimately resulting in improved care for these prevalent clinical populations. Across our performance sites (Northwestern University, Lurie , etc…) we possess all of the necessary capabilities to perform the tasks designated in RFA??? . These capabilities include administrative support and coordination across research projects, cores and for the broader PEPR Consortium; data collection, management and secure storage; psychometrics, biostatistics, and study design; and administration and management of the Infrastructure and Opportunities Fund.
