Project Details
Description
We will investigate the feasibility of realizing a hybrid opto-electronic correlator that will combine techniques from analog holographic storage, digital holography, and on-chip signal processing to realize an ultrafast automatic image recognition system, with a correlation speed of few microseconds per database image, nearly three orders of magnitude faster than the best current alternative using Digital Signal Processing (DSP). Furthermore, we will combine Polar Logarithmic Transform (PLT) with optical Fourier Transform (FT), rendering the correlator insensitive to spatial shift, angular orientation and scaling
