Project Details

Description

Northwestern is collaborating to transform how pre-K-3rd grade teachers in ten Big Shoulders Fund schools engage their students in science. Our goal is to ignite children’s early passion for science and give them the skills necessary to succeed in later grade levels. Through E2SP, we will work with partner schools to prepare pre-K-3rd grade teachers to implement the Next Generation Science Standards (“NGSS”) and build the capacity of these schools to strengthen and support science instruction. E2SP Goals are: • Create a professional learning community focused on strengthening science instruction. • Improve educators’ ability to teach science guided by NGSS. • Strengthen educator’s ability to connect science teaching and learning with museum resources. • Improve elementary students’ understanding of and ability to do science.
