Description

Leveraging our considerable expertise in nacre layer protein database and our collaborative efforts with three externally-funded collaborators, we will study an important SM protein, SM30, and determine the following: a) Characterize the SM30 supramolecular assembly process; b) Determine the involvement of SM30 in the pre- and post-nucleation events of the in vitro calcium carbonate mineralization process; c) Evaluate intermolecular interactions and mineralization events involving SM30 and another SM protein, SM50.
