Sedentary Behavior Characteristics, Sedentary Profiles, and Subsequent Functional Loss

Project: Research project

Project Details

Description

The objective of this proposed project is to identify specific sedentary characteristics and sedentary profiles which may be related to subsequent functional loss in older adults with knee OA or knee OA risk factors. To achieve the objective, we propose to conduct secondary data analysis using the longitudinal database from the Osteoarthritis Initiative (OAI). This study will expand knowledge on the sedentary behavior characteristics and sedentary profiles and their association with subsequent functional loss, which is important in identifying components for sedentary behavior interventions. The output of this project will offer a broader framework for understanding and identifying physical activity intervention strategies on maintaining healthy lifestyle. This research project will also accelerate the use of the latent profile analysis methodology in knee osteoarthritis research.
