Sloan Conference

Project: Research project

Project Details

Description

This project aims to accelerate the development of the emerging, multidisciplinary field of the science of science. It
will offer a platform for both producers (i.e., academic and industry scientists) and consumers/influencers (i.e.,
policymakers, publishers, funders, administrators, etc.) of the field to access funding, collaboration, idea exchange
and recognition. Through the establishment of annual conferences and the formalization of a professional society,
we will cultivate the Science of Science community by institutionalizing this important feedback loop between
producers and consumers/influencers in the field for years to come while advancing research and its application on
the science of science and innovation and maximize science’s benefits for human society.

PROPOSED ACTIVITIES
Grow community by hosting a series of virtual events in 2021. In 2022, host an inaugural 3-day annual,
international conference featuring keynotes from luminaries in the field, seed funding for junior researchers and
diversity research, workshops, panels from consumers and networking across fields and organizational
boundaries. This forum would be repeated in 2023, paving the way toward establishing a professional society.
