Social Justice Reporting Institute and the Chicago News Nexus

Project: Research project

Project Details

Description

Medill is preparing its first immersive graduate program specializations in the winter 2014. The program in Social justice Journalism exposes Medill students to opportunities to (a) report in depth on societal inequities and systemic abuses, particularly those that foster discrimination, economic exploitation, and human rights and civil liberties violations, (b) depict the impact on individual and communities, and (c) drive collective engagement and change on those issues. This proposal is integral to linking and leveraging community based journalism, including Medill’s considerable output on social justice issues to date.
