Structural characterization of Aß strain variation in AD mouse models

Project: Research project

Project Details

Description

The generalized objective of this project is to determine the structure of amyloid fibrils produced in the brain of three complementary models of AD-like pathology. The specific objectives are to breed a cohort of AD model mice, metabolically label the mice with nitrogen-15 mouse chow, and determine the labeling efficiency with MS. We will also measure the level of amyloid beta peptides, determine the plaque load, and determine the time line of pathology. We will provide the nitrogen-15 labeled brains to our collaborators at USC for structural studies and share all the data regarding the degree of pathology in the brains of all three Ad mouse models.
