Student support for Angela Chang

Project: Research project

Project Details

Description

As a part of an on-going Lab-Directed Research and Development (LDRD) at Argonne National Lab, Angela Chang will perform characterizations of semiconductor nanocrystals and organic dyes. In particular, she will perform static and time-resolved photoluminescence studies of fluorescent nanocrystals and dyes that are conjugated to proteins and DNA that, upon exposure to an analyte will cause changes in the fluorescence intensity of both. The measurements will help in the determination of optical response as a function of analyte concentration. Time-resolved optical experiments will act as confirmatory characterizations that changes in fluorescence intensity arise from the desired microscopic interactions of the nanocrystals and dyes. The student is well-suited to performance of this work as her research to date has focused heavily on static and time-resolved spectroscopies.
