Project Details
Description
A long-term goal of our research is to understand the visual processing in the inner plexiform layer (IPL) of the retina. Our study will integrate state-of-the-art techniques including intersectional mouse genetics, viral technology, optical imaging, electrophysiology, and optogenetics to dissect the inner retina circuits. The proposed experiments will advance our understanding of visual processing in the inner retina, while at the same time will provide the field with genetic access to individual cell types for functional characterization. Furthermore, the work will validate and gather experience with a set of genetic tools that can generalize to all brain circuits.
