Project: Research project

Project Details

Description

The Department of Asian Languages and Cultures (ALC) at Northwestern University requests support to help us hire a permanent faculty member in Korean Literature and Culture to 1) head up our existing undergraduate curriculum in Korean Languages and Cultures (currently a Major and a Minor, see additional materials for details), 2) oversee our thriving Korean Language Program (currently with three full-time Korean language instructors) and 3) help develop a course in advanced undergraduate and graduate study in Korean literatures in tandem with Northwestern University’s Program in Comparative Literary Studies. The successful fulfillment of this position will solidify Korean Studies at Northwestern for the present term, and lay the groundwork for future growth. We will conduct an international search for a tenure-line faculty member at the Assistant Professor level in Korean literature and culture in 2020-2021, and aim to have the position filled in September, 2021.
