Project Details
Description
Saugat Kandel will work in a new project being supported by the core FWP of the Synchrotron Studies of Materials (SSM) group in the Materials Science Division at Argonne. The project aims to develop the numerical framework for phase retrieval of vector-quantity fields from experimental Bragg coherent x-ray diffraction measurements. Currently, neither a measurement methodology nor a method to invert such data exist, and this will be the focus of Saugat Kandel’s work in our group. Initial steps towards a solution to this problem will be based on phase retrieval methods that utilize automatic differentiation that have been pioneered by Kandel in a recent publication. His continued work in this area will have a significant impact in the scope of coherent x-ray diffraction imaging experiments that the SSM group will be able to perform.
