Project Details
Description
For the WO period, Yue Sun will be working on multi instrument, multi length scale studies of energy materials at work. This may involve both tomography and fluorescence microscopy studies of materials such as battery electrodes and amorphous photovoltaics. His project will include participation in experimental runs (“beamtime”) at the Advanced Photon Source (APS) at Argonne National Lab, as well as occasional meetings with APS beamline scientists and other scientists at Argonne. He will also work at Northwestern University on computational analysis of the images obtained, including developing methods to merge data from separate instruments into a single image of a material. His deliverables during the year include the following:
• Quarterly reports on progress
• Demonstration of a Python program to illustrate tomographic data collection and reconstruction, from projection acquisition to sinogram generation to image reconstruction.
• Participation in x-ray tomography and/or nanotomography experiments.
• Demonstration of overlay of two images of the same specimen.
