Surgery as a Contributor to the Opioid Epidemic: A Roundtable on the Importance of Minimizing Opioid Exposure Through Standardized Approaches for Acute Pain Management

The proposed roundtable will be held in September or October 2019 (pending coordination between Venn Strategies and Dr. Stulberg), in Washington D.C. from 8 am to 3 pm. The purpose of the event is to bring together leading voices in the surgical field, clinical setting, professional organizations and regulatory bodies to share best practices around updated approaches to surgical pain management, including guidelines and protocols. The roundtable will also serve to build interest among other policy and clinical stakeholders in advancing/replicating the work presented at the roundtable, as well as increase knowledge of opioid prescribing guidelines and alternative pain management options.
