Testing Intervention Strategies for Addressing Obesity and Binge Eating

Project: Research project

Project Details

Description

A significant subset of individuals with obesity have comorbid binge eating; yet, no behavioral treatment addresses both conditions, leaving individuals with obesity and binge eating stuck in a clinical gap. I propose to design and pilot test a mobile, user-centered intervention that targets obesity and binge eating, and I will use a 23 factorial trial design and apply the Multiphase Optimization Strategy framework to identify the “active ingredients” that improve weight and binge eating. Study data will be used to optimize the intervention for a subsequent R01 trial, resulting in an independent research program to improve the precision of care for individuals with these overlapping health issues.
