The ACME Electric Dipole Moment Experiment

Project: Research project

Project Details

Description

This proposal is for measuring the electron electric dipole moment to test the standard model of particle physics. The three group leaders (Co-Pi Gabrielse from Northwestern, Co-PI Doyle from Harvard, and PI DeMille from UChicago) and their research groups collaborate in a very coordinated way to build apparatus, commission it, take data, analyze it, reach a conclusion and publish the result together. The central apparatus is located at Harvard, with apparatus and method development taking place at Harvard, UChicago and Northwestern.
