Project Details

Description

Specific aims: To evaluate the impact of neuraxial labor analgesia during the second stage of labor on newborn and maternal safety in the Second Hospital of Wenzhou Medical College by conducting an impact study. Anticipated impact: This project will document that second stage neuraxial labor analgesia is safe for newborns and mothers and specifically address the concern from both the public and local health care providers regarding newborn safety. There is currently a lack of research material on this subject, so it will be a great reference for both Chinese society and the rest of the world to promote the second stage of neuraxial labor analgesia not only for labor analgesia, but also in case of emergent operative vaginal or cesarean delivery. We anticipate that mode of delivery, postpartum hemorrhage, and other infant safety markers will remain unchanged to demonstrate sustained effect of NPLD-GHI with time.
