The tasks to be carried out by Prof. Reno will involve research and research dissemination under the Project’s Work Packages 1-3. More specifically, Prof. Reno will: - Be a member of the project’s core team which plans and oversee the project activities. This include participation in four project events in the period 2018-2021. - Carry out a case study of SFA in Iraq and a case study of SFA in East Africa. This will result in publication of at least one article in a peer-reviewed journal. The first article is to be accepted for publication by 1 December 2020. - Plan and oversee the organisation of policy workshop in Chicago in 2020. - Contribute to professional journals addressed to military personnel involved in SFA. Final draft of this material is to be ready by December 2020 with the goal of publication before 1 March 2021. - Contribute to policy forum debates (i.e., foreign affairs blog, op-ed). - In consultation with Project Owner, hire and manage support staff for the implementation of above tasks. The responsibilities of the research assistants/graduate students include: - Assisting Prof. Reno in collecting and analysing data and produce academic output from the case study research. - Under Prof. Reno’s supervision, plan, administer and report on the policy workshop in Chicago in 2020. - Under Prof. Reno’s supervision, liaison with SFAssist leadership in Oslo and help fulfil PAS’ administrative obligations related to the project.
