The Relationship Between Continuous Improvement Processes and Classroom Change in P3CC

Project: Research project

Project Details

• Oversee all aspects of the research effort related to P3CC, including communication with California Education Partners, research design, instrument development, institutional review board approval, site selection in collaboration with California Education Partners, data collection, data analysis, feedback sessions, and manuscript development. • Conduct research effort intended to answer the following research questions: 1) How, if at all, do districts participating in P3CC develop their capacity to support and sustain PK-3 alignment and continuity in mathematics? 2) How does the level of capacity influence, if at all, the alignment and continuity of teachers’ mathematics instruction in participating schools? • Follow research design as communicated in the document “proposed research effort CEP 9-15-20 CC” to the extent possible. Should conditions related to the pandemic require that we redesign some proposed activities, work with California Education Partners staff to develop a redesign that answers the two research questions above. • In Fall 2021, Fall 2022, and Fall 2023, provide tailored feedback sessions to the following: 1) California Education Partners staff, focused on findings across the schools and districts; 2) Leaders from participating districts, focused on findings in their school and district; and 3) Leaders from participating schools, focused on providing data from their school • By end of year 3, we will produce a policy report targeted to practitioners and policy makers intended to share the lessons from our research • Produce at least two peer reviewed journal articles. By end of year 3, we will have these manuscripts in process at least, with the intention of having them ready for publication after the end of the grant period.
