The Role of Mechanosensation Pathways in Osteoarthritis Joint Damage and Pain

Project: Research project

Project Details

Description

This project is to investigate how aberrant cellular responses to mechanical forces contributes to pain and joint damage in osteoarthritis (OA). Dr. Richard J Miller is a professor in the department of Molecular Pharmacology and Biological Chemistry at the Northwestern University Medical School. As co-I, Dr. Richard Miller will carry out work as follows. 1) Assist with in vivo Ca imaging studies on the DRG of mice using OA models prepared by Dr. Rachel Miller at Rush Univ. 2) Assist with in situ hybridization studies using RNAscope. 3) Provide advice on the studies investigating how pain develops in OA.
