Description
ioembolization
B. Lay statement of the research and its relevance to interventional radiology: The objective of this proposal is to improve the prognosis of patients with unresectable hepatocellular carcinoma {HCC). Yttrium- 90 ('°Y) radioembolization is a powerful treatment option for HCC. Radioembolization involves selective tumor-targeted delivery of ""Y microspheres via a catheter placed in the hepatic artery. This technique provides high-dose internal radiation to liver tumors. Although it has been shown that radioembolization has lower toxicities and longer time-to-progression compared to conventional transcatheter chemoembolization, technical improvements remain much needed to further improve patient outcomes. The objective of this proposal is to develop a tumor-selective radio-sensitization approach to Improve the therapeutic efficacy of 90Y radioembolization
