Project: Research project

Project Details

Description

A maximum of four clinical fellows will be present each year. Concurrently, there will be a maximum of 3 integrated residents and 4 T-32 research residents each year. Tour of duty for the junior fellows and/or last fourth year of integrated vascular residency will be divided into 3-month blocks alternating between Northwestern Memorial Hospital (NMH) and Chicago VA Healthcare-West Side (VA), which is a shared rotation with University of Illinois. Senior level rotations will be in 2 month blocks including subspecialty rotations in the Vascular Laboratory (2 months), Clinical Research (2 months), and Interventional Radiology (2 months). A primary intent of the fellowship and/or final 2 years of integrated residency training is to expose trainees to the breadth of vascular surgery, encompassing common, uncommon, and complex vascular problems. Additionally, it is hoped that trainees will gain leadership skills, critical self-assessment, and an introduction to caring for one’s own patients.
