Vulnerability to Drug Use & HIV: Advancing Prevention for Rural African Americans

Dr. Miller's roles will be to (a) oversee the Inflammation and Neuroendocrine Core’s operations, (b) supervise technicians working in the Core, (c) lead a Working Group on Risk Mechanisms, charged with developing hypotheses about stress, inflammation, and drug-use vulnerability, and (d) participate in statistical analyses and manuscript preparation. Dr. Chen's roles will be to (a) assist Miller in overseeing the Inflammation and Neuroendocrine Core’s operations, (b) lead a Working Group on Resilience Mechanisms, charged with developing hypotheses about why some youth exposed to stress remain in good health, and (c) participate in statistical analyses and manuscript preparation. The Core will perform analyses of biospecimens collected as part of Center projects and initiatives. Depending on the project’s needs, techniques ranging from immunoassay to PCR to gene-expression profiling will be used. Specific analysis plans will be developed in Working Groups and then implemented by the Core.
