1.5-μm phase-sensitive amplifier for ultrahigh-speed communications

Abstract

A phase-sensitive amplifier (PSA) which can operate in the 1.5-μm range is presented. The PSA uses the nonlinear index of fused silica-fiber to operate in the said spectral range. The gain, amplification and deamplification properties of the PSA were investigated experimentally under different optical pumping intensities. The results were found to be in good agreement with established theoretical data.
