Abstract

A search for the putative candidate for the narrow tensor (2++) glueball, ξ(2230), identified by BES(BEPC) in the radiative decay of J/ψ, has been made using the Crystal Barrel detector at LEAR (CERN). No evidence for any enhancement in pp̄ → π0π0, ηη, and π0η channels is observed in the region 2222 to 2240 MeV. Limits on the branching ratios for the formation and decay of the candidate ξ (2230) resonance are presented.
