Abstract

The concept of the volume fraction at chain end was proposed. It was observed that entropy of polymer/solvent system was separated into two parts such as translational entropy and conformational entropy. It was also observed that Flory-Huggins theory was recovered when a mean-field approximation was introduced. The FH interaction parameters and spinodal curves of the polystryrene/cyclohexane system were calculated.
