Advective coalescence in chaotic flows

Abstract

The reaction kinetics of small spherical particles with inertia, obeying coalescence type of reaction was investigated. The dissipativity of advection dynamics due to stokes drag and the time dependence of chaotic flow was found to have drastic effects of reaction. It models the crowding phenomena of biological populations advected in fluid flows with imperfect mixing.
