Abstract

In eastern Sharon there are 28 Arab settlements in a long narrow strip along the old Israel-Jordan frontier ('the small triangle'). In the N on the Wadi A'ra it is dry and hard to develop: the rest of the area has better land and more water, the 17 settlements here are described. They are in varied stages of development. 15% of the population are in agriculture. The article describes changes in the last 30 yr. Surplus labour is employed by the Jews. -D.J.Davis
