Abstract

Variable-temperature 1H n.m.r. spectroscopic studies in CD 3COCD3 and u.v. spectroscopic measurements in Me 2CO demonstrate that in the 1:1 complex, [Diquat·(1)] 2+, the guest is encapsulated within the host and that the complexation strength (ΔGo = -7.4 kcal mol-1) is enhanced by the macrobicyclic cryptate effect.
