Abstract
A new experimental method for three-dimensional cutting analysis based on times series models and the Dynamic Data System methodology is introduced. Its theoretical formulation allows the treatment of both orthogonal and threedimensional cutting without any additional complexity. Furthermore, it facilitates an easy explanation and proof of the independence of the inner and outer modulation effects and the use of a simple experimental setup. It is shown that the overall transfer matrix of the three-dimensional cutting process relating the force and relative displacement components can be identified in a single experiment.J, Based on the proposed theoretical models of the cutting process, suitable experimental procedures and methods were proposed and used in actual cutting. The obtained results confirmed the theoretical expectations.
