Abstract
Health care workers need to be diligent in their awareness of the causes of anaphylaxis, the recognition of the clinical signs and symptoms, and the knowledge of treatment protocols and their side effects. By understanding the medical problems most frequently encountered by the elderly population, physicians can be more vigilant in reducing the risks of a hypersensitivity reaction. In doing so, physicians can decrease the probability that older patients will suffer the effects of anaphylaxis and increase the probability of a favorable outcome.
