Abstract

The articles in this volume reflect the breadth and diversity of contemporary sociology. There are 18 papers divided into nine sections: prefatory; theory and methods; institutions and culture; formal organisations; political and economic sociology; differentiation and stratification; individual and society; demography and sociology of world religions. Topics covered wtihin these sections include theoretical and comparative perspectives on corporate organisation; socioeconomic achievement and social structure; class consciousness in culture, action and social organisation; US socioeconomic and racial differences in health: patterns and explanations; economic inequality among American ethnic and racial groups, and unauthorised immigration to the US. There are cumulative indexes of contributing authors and of chapter titles for volumes 1-12. -I.C.White
