Abstract

The synthesis and utilization of an iron(II) Schiff-base complex was employed in the atom transfer radical polymerization of styrene. Polydispersities of the final polymers remain low regardless of the initiator used. Performing the polymerization in 50% w/w solutions of styrene in toluene resulted in better controlled polymerization which may be due to maintaining homogeneity of the reaction medium.
