Abstract

An overview is given of the improved measurements of branching fractions for τ- → π-π+π-vτ, K-π+π-vτ decays, and an improved upper limit for the phase space suppressed and Cabibbo-suppressed decay τ- → K-K+K-vτ. The decay mode τ- → K-π+π-vτ has a significant contribution to the overall strange spectral function which can provide a direct determination of the strange quark mass and, potentially, precision extraction of the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa element Vus. The decay τ- → K-K+π-vτ can proceed via both the vector and axial-vector currents.
