Abstract

An electro-optic modulator integrated with a Bragg reflector structure utilizing a barium titanate thin film platform is proposed and its optical properties are simulated. An electro-optic modulator with a drive voltage-length product of 27mVcm is achievable with a cascaded Bragg reflector structure. Phase matching conditions can be obtained using a simple Bragg reflector structure, and a >100GHz bandwidth is predicted for a millimetre-long electro-optic modulator device.
