Abstract
Single phase polycrystalline LaSrCuGa1-xZnxO5 has been prepared with 15% substitution of gallium by zinc. The structure consists of nearly planar [CuO2] planes separated by tetrahedral [GaO 4 2] chains. Substitution was found by neutron diffraction to occur equally on both plane and chain sites despite their different coordination environments.
