Abstract

Gallbladder disease has historically been a rare finding in infants and children [1-5]. However, with advances in perinatal nutritional support, increasing obesity among children and adolescents, increasing use of ultrasonography for paediatric abdominal pain and a reduced threshold for surgery with the rapid acceptance of laparoscopic cholecystectomy, the surgical management of gallbladder and common bile duct (CBD) disorders is increasingly necessary for the paediatric surgeon [5,6].
