Abstract

Based on simple coupled-mode theory, squeezed-state light beams should be obtainable from nearly degenerate forward four-wave mixing using self-phase modulation (SPM) in a single-mode optical fiber. Theoretical results for the classical and quantum-noise transformations produced by SPM in a lossless dispersionless medium are reported.
