Abstract
Skin tests are the most useful means of diagnosing IgE-mediated allergic diseases. They are easy to perform, reliable, and cost effective when compared with other diagnostic tests used in the evaluation of allergic diseases. The diagnostic value of skin testing is optimal only when interpreted in the context of a patient's history and physical examination, because asymptomatic individuals also may have positive results.
