Abstract

The article discusses the adsorption of proteins of different sizes and charges using molecular theory. The amount of proteins adsorbed and the fraction of each protein was calculated as a function of the bulk composition of the solution and the amount of salt in the system. The results showed that the total amount of proteins adsorbed is a monotonically decreasing function of the fraction of large proteins on the bulk solution and for fixed protein composition of the salt concentration.
