Abstract

Exposed, unpaired areas of an RNA molecule will bind complementary tri and tetranucleotides. The binding can be measured by dialysis equilibrium methods and if the RNA sequence is known the conformation of the molecule can be mapped. The method is here applied to the anticodon loop of formylmethionine tRNA.
