Abstract

By analyzing the electrical conductivity at constant thermoelectric coefficient, the small polaron conduction mechanism can sometimes be unambiguously established in transition metal oxides. Using this technique, Fe1-δO is shown to exhibit small polaron conduction. The data for Co1-δO indicate band-type conduction.
