Cooperative acquisition of Africana: Past performance and future directions

Abstract

This article gives a review of previous cooperative acquisition efforts by African Studies librarians followed by a detailed report of a survey of major U S African collections. This survey reports on the scope of collections; methods of collecting; amount and sources of funds and current cooperative involvements or plans Finally, suggestions are made for specific projects that can be relatively quickly implemented.
