N2 - A recent trend in corporate governance is the integration of corporate social responsibility (CSR) criteria in executive compensation. Using a novel database of CSR contracting, we study the antecedents and consequences of CSR contracting. Our main results indicate that the adoption of CSR contracting reduces short-termism and increases firm value.
