Abstract

Fatigue behaviour of continuous fiber and metal matrix composites of B/Al and SiC/Al laminates is settled. The stress field linked with bending and the influence of this field on damage are shown. The interpretation of stiffness loss as a damage indicator is discussed. Various mechanisms of damage are observed by SEM fractography and surface replication. There is a failure at the interfaces.
