Abstract
The deep heating characteristics of an electromagnetic (EM) annular array applicator system with power steering capability have been investigated experimentally and clinically. SAR (specific absorption rate) measurements have been obtained in a CDRH elliptical phantom for balanced and steered configurations. Theoretical calculations using a two-dimensional method-of-moments model have also been performed. These results indicate tissue conductivity to significantly influence the SAR distributions.
